New on Our Menu: Six Vegetarian Street-Food and Tandoor Favourites
We have something new for you. Express Indien in NDG has added six new vegetarian dishes to our menu, inspired by the street-food stalls and tandoors of North India. If you already love our Aloo Tikki Chaat, these are your next favourites.
Dahi Puri – one perfect bite ($10.99)
Dahi Puri is a classic Mumbai street snack. Small, crispy hollow puris are filled with potato and chickpeas, then topped with cool yogurt, sweet tamarind chutney, spicy green chutney and crunchy sev. You eat each one in a single bite, and every bite is crunchy, creamy, sweet and tangy at once.
Dahi Bhalle – soft, cool and tangy ($10.99)
Dahi Bhalle is a favourite across North India, especially at festivals and family gatherings. Soft lentil dumplings are soaked until tender, covered in chilled yogurt, then finished with tamarind and green chutneys and a sprinkle of roasted cumin and chili. It is light, refreshing and the perfect starter before a rich curry.
Chaat Papri – crunchy street-food favourite ($10.99)
Chaat Papri is the snack every Delhi street corner is famous for. Crisp wheat wafers are layered with potatoes and chickpeas, then topped with yogurt, tamarind and mint chutneys, crunchy sev and a dash of tangy chaat masala. Sweet, spicy, crunchy and cool, all on one plate.
Veg Manchurian – the Indo-Chinese classic ($13.99)
India has its own take on Chinese food, and Veg Manchurian is its biggest star. Crispy vegetable balls are tossed in a bold sauce of garlic, ginger, soy and chili. It is savoury, a little spicy and goes perfectly with rice, naan or on its own as an appetizer.
Paneer Tikka – straight from the tandoor ($15.99)
Cubes of fresh paneer, India's soft cottage cheese, are marinated in yogurt and spices, then roasted in our tandoor with onions and peppers. Smoky on the outside, soft inside, it is the vegetarian answer to tandoori chicken.
Soya Malai Chaap – creamy and protein-packed ($14.99)
A North Indian favourite for vegetarians who love a hearty bite. Soya chaap is marinated in a creamy, mildly spiced malai marinade and grilled in the tandoor until golden. Rich, tender and full of plant protein.
